The board of the Sewanee Civic Association has set the goal of $108,000 for this year’s Community Chest campaign. These 28 organizations help children, improve the quality of life, supply community aid, and help communities beyond Sewanee.
The Sewanee Civic Association is the supporting entity for the Community Chest. Last year the Sewanee Community Chest, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, supported youth sports, outreach, and many community and educational programs in the tri-county area, a total of $99,850 in support to 26 organizations.
Those organization requesting funds include: Blue Monarch $2,500.00; Franklin County Humane Society $3,000.00; Grundy County Food Bank $1,000.00; Haven of Hope $500.00; Mt. Goat Trail Alliance $1,200.00; Boy Scout Troop 14 $300.00; Campora Family Resource Center $1,000.00; Cub Scout Pack 152 $600.00; Girl Scout Troop 2107 $200.00; Girls Scout Troop 621 $200.00; SES PTO $20,000.00; Sewanee Children’s Center $12,000.00; Sewanee Little League $2,500.00; TigerSharks Swim Team $500.00; CCJP $500.00; Community Action Committee $15,000.00; Folks at Home $5,000.00; Housing Sewanee $4,000.00; Sewanee Mountain Messenger $11,000.00; South Cumberland Time Bank $3,000.00; St. Mark’s Community Center $500.00; Phil White Dog Park $1,100.00; Fourth of July Celebration $3,000.00; Senior Citizen’s Center $12,000.00; Sewanee Angel Park $1,500.00; Sewanee Chorale $625.00; Sewanee Community Center $4,500.00; Thurmond Memorial Library $500.00; and Community Chest, for stamps $275.00.
